We would like for you to meet our family... My name is Elizabeth, my husband is John. We opened our doors for business in August 2005, ironically the same weekend that Hurricane Katrina decided to blow through the Gulf. Our Sales Guy was safe & sound, still cooking in his Mommy's tummy. With one hurricane after another, the first few months were pretty rough for us. We even spent 22 hours driving to Dallas when Hurricane Rita decided to roll in a few weeks after Katrina.
We opened a family business so that one day we could teach our children the benefits of hard work and honest work ethics. We have taught them so much more along the way. And believe it or not, we have learn a great deal also. We never would have imagine that we would have grown this fast! We are happy to provide Houstonians with an alternative for quality furniture, at prices that are fair & reasonable with honest sales & customer service.
John is a University of Houston alumni (We always do free delivery to UH Campus!). He enjoys boxing, college sports (esp. UH) and spending time with family. He has spent most of his life here in Houston, attending DeBakey High School and going on to graduating from the UH studying Biology & Chemistry. He works full time at a chemical plant, as the operation supervisor. He works at the store in the evenings (either in the store or deliveries), and every weekend.
Elizabeth was a home daycare provider for almost 4-years. She was working towards her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development, before we fell into the furniture business. She enjoys photography and taking the kids out for a day of fun! She was raised in Kansas City, MO and moved to Houston in 1999 to attend UH. She also enjoys being active in the Vietnamese & Catholic Communities.
We both come from large families. Family values and our Christian faith have always been important to instill in our children. We also have three daughters ages 9, 7, and 1 year. Our older girls are involved in Girl Scouts and activities in our church. They also enjoy soccer. Both of them are very excited as the new soccer season begins! The baby of the family is sweet & adorable, she likes to get into everything now that she's walking. She enjoys having a big brother that plays with her & looks after her! They are two peas in a pod, unseparable just like the older two!
Our Sales Guy of the Month is featured throughout our website. He is now almost 4-years old. He has become a very familiar face in Houston! He is a very brave little boy with a truly inspirational story to share, full of courage & strength! This pass year he has also earned the title of "CANCER SURVIVOR," after enduring 6 months of chemotherapy & radiation. He overcame Stage 4 Cancer (Wilm's Tumor) & is currently in remission & doing GREAT!
2009 was a very difficult year for our family. Our 3-year old son was diagnosed with cancer. He had Stage 4 Wilm's Tumor. He endured 6 months of chemotherapy & radiation. He is now in remission and his doctor are very hopeful of the future. The Make A Wish Foundation sponsored a family vacation for all 6 of us to spend in Disney World (in Orlando, FL), we went at the beginning of January! We had such a great time! We created many memories that we will cherish forever...
"OUR BROTHER HAS CANCER" CLICK THE RIBBON TO SEE OUR SON'S STORY
It almost seems as if it were just a nightmare, when you see his bright smile and the twinkling excitement in his eyes as he runs amongst the other children on the playground. It is very hard to remember this same child with his pale skin and bald head just a few months earlier. We want to share our family's story to spread childhood cancer awareness. Cancer is very real. It becomes a lifestyle of chemotherapy, blood counts, & cocktails of medications. You wish that you could kiss him & make it all disappear. It almost seems impossible to envision that your sick child will be full of life & laughter again soon. We must not forget the many angels who were taken too early, as I gratefully embrace my child close to my heart. We didn't think it would happen to us, but it did. Our son is just one of the many children who have stories of bravery & courage, who sit in the Cancer Clinic at Texas Children's or MD Anderson... Our family's story is just one of the many families whose lives have been touched by cancer.
HELP US FIGHT CANCER! Raising Money for Childhood Cancer Research! After cancer hit twice within months to our family this year, it has become especially important for us to join the fight against CANCER! Please help us raise money that will go directly to Alex's Lemonade Stand in our son's name. This money will go towards research programs and finding a cure for cancer! Cancer is a very scary thing especially for a child. We need your help to find a cure! Many of these research studies are happening right here in Houston! It amazes me the power that medicine & doctors have, when given the resources necessary. My 4-year old cancer survivor told me during the middle of his chemotherapy treatments, that he wants to be a doctor so that he can make sick kids feel better.
